Learning Basic Blues Riffs - Riffs 1-6

The following riffs are all basic blues riffs in the key of A minor. They all stay strictly within the scale pattern shown in section (minor Blues Pentatonic). These riffs are the most common blues riffs in all of blues! Most guitar players play them. What is important is to develop your own style when playing these riffs. Really concentrate on your bends and vibratos. Better to play it slow and carefully then to play it fast and sloppy.

This is riff #1. Notice that the last note finishes on A. This is no accident! Its the root and generally sounds good over all chords in the progression.

Riff #2 is without a doubt the second most played riff in all of blues! This can be modified, added to in an infinate amount of ways. Wanna sound like Hendrix and SRV?, this is the beginning!
