Learning Advanced Blues Riffs - Riffs 1-5

The following riffs are all more advanced blues riffs in the key of E minor. They all stay strictly within the scale pattern shown in section (minor Blues Pentatonic). What is important is to develop your own style when playing these riffs. Really concentrate on your bends and vibratos. Better to play it slow and carefully then to play it fast and sloppy.

This is riff #1. Play each note carefully and really practive your slides. Remember, repition is the key!

Riff #2 is a basic way to add on to the riffs shown in the "Basic Blues Riffs Section."

Riff #3 can be played very fast over and over to get a neat effect. Try it!

Riff #4 is almost identicle to Riff #2 above, there is a bend at the end. This is to demonstrate how that riff can be modified.

Riff #5 is just a basic walk up of the E Minor Blues pentatonic scale. Learn this pattern to help you get around the scale with ease.
